5 Ways To Deal With Body Odor

Put hygiene as one of your top priorities!

Having body odor in your twenties can take a toll on anyone’s confidence. While BO was understandable in your teens—#puberty wasn’t that kind to everyone—it could be a problem once you’re an adult. Here, five ways you can deal with body odor and get rid of it for good.

1. Watch what you eat

Your diet has to do with your natural scent. Consuming foods with strong-smelling and tasting ingredients like garlic, curry, and pepper, can affect body odor.

2. Cleanse your armpits

It’s important to know that sweat itself is odorless. However, the bacteria that builds up is what makes you stink. Take proper care of your armpits since the area is prone to bacteria build up. Aside from giving it a good scrub twice or thrice a week, you can also double cleanse your armpits to make sure that you get rid of excess reside. Use an oil-based cleanser—the same kind that you use to remove your makeup—on your armpits and leave it for at least five minutes. Then, take a washcloth to wipe away the oil and dirt. Finally, use your body soap or wash to rinse the area.

3. Pick the right type of clothes

Choose cotton clothes to make sure that your skin will be able to breathe. Sometimes, your sweat doesn’t react well with certain types of clothing material. So it’s safer to opt for clothes made of cotton and changing your outfits if you sweat a lot, especially after a workout.

4. Use a good deodorant

Keep yourself smelling clean and fresh by spritzing on an anti-bacterial body spray that doubles a deodorant before you start your day. These are best used after you step out of the shower.
